Too often important policy decisions happen behind closed doors. We need an open and accessible debate on Europe’s fiscal future.
Greentervention is proud to join a group of civil society organisations, think tanks and trade union leaders, including:
● The European Trade Union Confederation
● The European Environment Bureau
● The European Youth Forum
● Climate Action Network Europe
● Finance Watch
● New Economics Foundation
● Sustainable Finance Lab
● Fondation Nicolas Hulot
Together we form #FiscalMatters. As academics, civil society, trade union leaders, activists and citizens, we are deeply concerned that the current fiscal framework prioritises debt reduction and balanced budgets over much more important human, economic and environmental outcomes – like creating well paid green jobs, lifting millions out of poverty, and implementing much needed green infrastructure projects. Accordingly, we work collaboratively to overhaul the current approach to fiscal policy and reshape our economies and tackle the unprecedented challenges facing the EU head on.

SAVE THE DATE – September 27th to 30th
FiscalMatters’ week of debate is the high-level moment on European fiscal policy in 2021. From September 27 to 30, it brings together the best minds to raise awareness and elicit debate. It builds on a wide range of perspectives to present recent academic work and connect ideas and people who care about our future and recognise the importance of fiscal policy for it, at European level and in member states.
Events will be hosted in English but also in a variety of European languages. In particular, as part of the #FiscalMatters week of debate, Greentervention will host several events in French. Don’t miss out on these events by subscribing to our website via the form below or by clicking here, which will allow us to send you the link and details in due time.
This week of debate is only the first step to launch the discussion. At a later stage, #FiscalMatters will lay down its proposal for a fair fiscal reform.
